LIVING THE LIFE La Vita is located in the heart of "Little Italy" right across from Gennaro's and Francesca's. Owned by a couple of neighborhood guys, this place has some of the best contemporary Northern Italian cuisine I've had in a long time. The "Vongole Al Forno" (baked clams) and the "Shrimp Empanato (breaded shrimp) with it's delicious citrus sauce, started me off in the right direction. The "Stracitella" soup was the best. A spicy chicken broth filled with spinach and shrimp was a perfect selection to begin the meal. Since I've started this site I promised myself that when it comes to dining out I'll make sure I'll try something different. My friend ordered the "Vitello Saltimbocca"(Veal) and I had the "Pollo Crema Di Brandy" (chicken). This chicken dish was served with a brandy creme sauce and topped with prosciutto and parmesan cheese. It was rich and creamy and delicious. I would have added a few mushrooms. But even without the mushrooms, it was an excellent dish. We topped this off with a bottle of Terrabianca "Scassino" Chianti Classico 2004 from Toscana, Italy. La Vita has a sleek modern decor which is warm and inviting. I went on an off night, so it was quite and relaxing. Service was excellent and I would definitely go back again to try out some of their other selections on the menu. Click here for a look at La Vita's menu Time to move on to my next discovery. Next week I'm off to "The Italian Village".
