Prosciutto and Melon


Sweet and Salty

"Prosciutto di Parma" is the best ham to use for this simple Italian treat.

This is a must for every Italian buffet, luncheon and dinner party. Great first course complimenting any dish. This delicate appetizer will satisfy the Italian in everyone.

Gather the family around to discuss the wonderful flavors of this appetizer and they will soon be dancing the tarentella in your living room.

The sweetness of the melon and the salt of the sea. Take me to a land far away. Oh sorry, I was getting carried away again wasn't I. Just wrap the meat around the melon and eat. Is that better?

Elegant, delicious, juicy and mouthwatering can best describe this favorite. Mangia!

INGREDIENTS

  • About a half a pound of "Prosciutto de Parma" sliced very thin.
  • One cantaloupe or honeydew melon.
  • Sprigs of fresh mint
  • Or for a simple twist in flavor use fresh figs.

    PREPARATION

  • Half the melon lengthwise.
  • Scoop out seeds.
  • Cut each halve into 3/4 inch slices.
  • Remove rind.
  • Wrap each melon piece with a slice of meat and secure with skewer.

    Place a piece of melon on a plate, garnish with fresh mint and your all set.
