My Italian Grandpa

by Kim
(New Jersey)

I never personally knew my grandfather. He passed when my dad was young, but I loved to hear the stories about him. He came here alone when he was in his early 20's and moved to Hazleton, PA. He became a coal miner and had 8 children. He was active in the church. We have a beautiful nativity that was presented to him from the church for his participation in the choir. He came from Torino, Italy. He unfortunately passed at a young age from working in the mines.
