Italian Sausage Puttanesca

Spicy Dish

This Italian Sausage Puttanesca dish has a great combination of texture and flavor.  If you like spice, you will love this recipe.  Hot Italian sausage is combined with capers. Kalamata olives, garlic and tomatoes create this hearty meal.

Kalamata olives are revered for their sweetness, rich flavor and deep purple appearance. They make an excellent snack, great with cheese and salami and make a delicious tapenada.  Some of the olives are brined but I prefer the ones packed in vinegar and oil.

Italian Sausage Puttanesca  is a  mouthwatering dish for the whole family.  Of course you can use mild sausage to cut down on the spice but I think the spice adds much more flavor to the dish. Of course I would serve this dish with a nice crisp artisan bread and a tasty bottle of Sicilian red like a Rosso delle Rose from the Masseria del Feudo estate.  It is a perfect and pleasurable wine for this dish.
