Pizza Sauce

Sassy SaucesSince pizza dough is the canvas then pizza sauce is the paint. Here's a great opportunity to express your creativity. Sauces can be made in a variety of different ways just as paints come in many different colors. This is the second most important ingredient in pizza making. If you can't make a great crust or a great sauce, then you can't make a great pizza. Pizza Sauce can be thin and smooth, thick and chunky, lightly seasoned or a garlic olive oil or pesto sauce can be used.
Traditional Neapolitan sauce is simply San Marzano plum tomatoes, basil and salt. Other sauces call for using tomato paste, garlic, oregano, etc.. Depending on your taste, you can experiment and come up with your own perfect sauce.
